The NorthEast of America


The NorthEast is the oldest region in America and consists of New England and the Mid Atlantic States. New England is again devided into 6 states. These states are Connecticut, Rhode Island (the smallest state in the US), Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine (the northernmost state on the mainland). The region though comprises nine states. New York City is the biggest city in the United States, and is also a part of the region, such as Washington DC (district of Colombia).

The Northeastern United States is bounded to the north by Canada, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean to the south by the American South, and to the west by the American Midwest. The Census-defined region occupies a total area of 181,324 sq mi.

Climate for the northeast region is all different. There are cool to hot summers and very cold winters. The yearly precipitation for the northeast region is about 46 inches in a year. That includes rainfall and snowfall.

The stereotype of the Northeast region is today often referred as hardworking, liberal, inventive and imaginative. Many of these factors is adopted from the Puritan settlers. The regions is considered as very multicultural, with its millions of immigrants.  Although it is a small region geographically, it is the richest region of the US. The culture is various, the region includes everything from theatres to art galleries and prestigious universities.
